My experience with yachting companies is there are standardised guidelines which are often the basis for the immediate team creating and managing the social media content. I set reminders for employee milestones; their first day, first week, passing their probation and then yearly service milestones. I send them a card and a gift to say congratulations but also use LinkedIn to celebrate those milestones. It's also important for me to recognise their achievements publicly and demonstrate their skills to a wider network, both for our company's reputation but also for the benefit of their career. I use LinkedIn and Twitter to share case studies and examples of their work.

Highlighting team success on social media? Great! But here's the catch: it needs to be even-handed. Thoughtful moderation is essential. If only Steve from Marketing's wins get the spotlight because his manager's savvy with submissions, while Tina from Tech goes unnoticed, you've got a recipe for demotivation. Seen it before: uneven recognition backfires, and suddenly you're not celebrating successes, Best case you are killing engagement, worst case you're fueling resentments. Every member, every team, deserves their moment. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Balance is key. No one likes a one-sided story. And too achieve that, it takes actual effort and a solid strategy, the work this requires should not be underestimated.

If you are going to start down this path, you either need to do it infrequently - so that there's no disappointment felt if someone isn't publicly recognised... ... or, you need to do it so comprehensively that every achievement gets praised. The danger of being somewhere in between is that disappointment at achievements going unnoticed could do more harm than the praising of other colleagues did in the first place.

Humanize your brand. Many times, your company looks to those in marketing to help humanize and bring to life the brand they represent and work for. Train your staff on how to show up on social, why it's important and emphasize that it's another touch point with clients, customers, and so forth.

The best way to boost your social team's morale is to (i) celebrate their wins and (ii) find a way to tie social metrics to overall business success. Everyone wants to feel like they've helped the business succeed. If people feel like they're kicking tires and not being recognized, it will result in low moral. Set KPIs, and celebrate when people hit them. Good social is good for business.

Threads and Twitter is short form written content and LinkedIn and Facebook are long form content. Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube are video content. Do not post the same content on each platform.
