Look for providers that have a proven track record of delivering reliable, secure, and compliant cloud services. Check their certifications, accreditations, and reviews from other customers. Ask them how they handle data encryption, backup, recovery, access control, identity management, incident response, and security updates. While working in small companies, I've learned that when building a secure cloud-based architecture, it is essential to consider some provider features. Security costs. All major cloud providers offer options to build security solutions. However, when it comes to costs, they can be high. It's important to identify what you need from a cloud provider and what you don't. Level of security and compliance. Determine what types of industry and company standards you should adhere to, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc. These standards impact your TCO, processes, and you need to understand why you opt for certain standards. Compute and data location. Some providers might not have regions or edge locations in the areas you need.

3 Implement security best practices

Once you have chosen a cloud service provider, it is important to put security best practices into place to protect your cloud-based architecture.
