This is particularly true when executed correctly in the classroom through sandbox games like Minecraft: Education Edition. I've had the opportunity to live this through my daughter's classroom experiences in two different countries, Spain and the USA. It is incredible to see how the K-6 students light up when they get to play and see other kids in a completely different region of the world. They all share the same sandbox game experience as a baseline and from there you see how they collaborate and interact with each other seamlessly.

While I prefer the term “Applied games” over “Serious games,” I see several challenges: 1-The game must ensure a balanced and fair setup without any bias towards a particular side. 2-The content should carefully reviewed, with special attention to localization efforts. 3-Prioritizing accessibility and performance is vital. Excluding certain platforms or hardware can limit reach and ultimately undermine the game’s purpose. It’s essential to consider platform distribution with respect to the target demographic.

Lastly, testing and iterating the game prototype while collecting feedback from users and evaluators is necessary to measure the impact and effectiveness of the game. This will enable you to make improvements or adjustments as needed.
