Assessing your team's maturity is essential for successful Agile implementation. A mature Agile team demonstrates self-organization, collaboration, adaptability, and customer-focus. To evaluate their readiness, consider tools such as the Agile Maturity Model or Scrum Team Assessment. If your team is less mature, offer guidance, feedback, and coaching. Pinpoint improvement areas and create a focused plan for enhancement.

By ensuring the below - 1. Are the teams working based on Scrum Values & Agile Principles mentioned in the agile manifesto? 2. Transparency, Inspection & Adaption through scrum events and/or by any other possible way. (Pillars). 3. Are we creating value by focusing on Product Goal, Sprint Goal and Valuable Increment (Artifacts) 4. Coaching the team about mindset and ownership, self-organization etc. 5. By facilitating productive meetings, promote collaboration and remove communication gaps for improving the results & maximizing the value.

Self-organizing may seem easy to understand, but it is extremely difficult to implement. As the agile principle #5 suggests: Build projects around motivated individuals. Hence, the ideal conditions to achieve self-organizing is by having motivated team members. Without it, it is very challenging to develop self-organizing team. Therefore, team maturity, emotionally and technically, is the foundation of a self-organizing team. There are several tools that can be used to assess team's maturity, but I'd rather simply observe the team behavior directly and how open they are when faced with problems. Openness is a key indicator of team's maturity as well as ability to control emotions.

Agile is about feedback! Not only we seek short feedback on our increment/product in every sprint review, but we also need to get feedback on how the team works together. Agile principle #12 clearly states: At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly. Therefore, retrospective is the perfect event to implement short and regular feedback loops. And more importantly by conducting retrospective we can gain commitment from the team members regarding the expected improvement in the next sprint.

Offer constructive regular feedback to team members on their adherence to Agile methodologies. Celebrate successes and achievements while also addressing any deviations from Agile practices in a timely and constructive manner.

I don't think it is good idea for scrum master to MONITOR and even to MEASURE the team's progress. Agile team is self-organizing, they don't need to be monitored nor measured. In order to ensure that the scrum framework is being followed we can observe how 5 scrum values are being practiced: Courage, Focus, Commitment, Respect, and Openness. And those 5 values can be observed through the interaction during daily standup, and other interactions that take place during a sprint.

You need to Sell Agile Scrum masters aren't just servant leads - they're sales agents for Agile. Scrum Masters need to foster understanding and buy-in. They should educate the team on Agile principles, emphasising benefits like increased adaptability, faster delivery, and improved collaboration. Facilitate discussions to address concerns and encourage feedback loops for continuous improvements and celebrate success together. Ultimately its about selling a 'service' you truly believe in a nurturing a culture of collaboration and empowerment, where team members see the true value in Agile and actively choose to embrace it rather than be forced.

Agile is a MINDSET that implemented through PRACTICE, such as scrum framework. With that being said, in order to ensure the adoption, we need to develop the right mindset. For starter we can pay attention on how they interact with each other, how they value their work (result over comprehensive documentation), collaboration, and adaptability. And to achieve the right mindset, it is not just one time attempt, it should and has to be something that is constantly promoted, demonstrated, and reminded. Otherwise, we would not be able to achieve agility.
