Because people fear the word, "NO" & boundaries are about saying NO. Consider it's a word great leaders are comfortable using/ hearing most. Before you quickly over-commit like a "YES-AHOLIC" respond with, “Let me check my calendar & get back to you.”Create a time buffer to ask yourself ?? *Is this something I must do?(Personal/professional responsibilities.) *Is this something I want to be doing? *Am I clear with/can I meet their expectations? *Do I really have time for this or will something be sacrificed? *Where would I schedule this? *What's a reasonable deadline I can commit to in the worst-case?

For the past two years, I was 100% remote, working virtually each day on a global team. It can be hard to motivate yourself or stick to a set schedule in this isolated environment. Here are 3 tips to lessen the burden: 1. Set 1:1 meetings each week with your leader and peers that you are on projects or programs with to share any updates, learn new insights and all be on the same page. Your weekly 1:1 with your direct manager should have an agenda and a purpose, sharing any new ideas, availability, or stretch assignments. 2. Create a monthly origin story session where a couple of team members each month share a 10 minute overview of what brought them to this place in their career/life. 3. Offer to join or collaborate on new projects.

Other ways of connecting with colleagues can include team building events, whereby you meet as teammates and have fun, share your achievements at work and give rewards, physical annual or semi annual meetings and workers dinner meetings. Here, you get to meet your fellow team members and open up on your experiences at work. This will you give you confidence and a sense of belonging. Also you can connect with your clients and customers through events like activations, webinars, social media platforms and many other sources. This makes it easier for you to be able to solve their problems as it brings them closer to you and vice versa.

I have found that posting your achievements on LinkedIn is very motivating. You get recognized and appreciated by people from across all network and divide hence having the feeling of doing better and better next time. Treat yourself for your small and big wins, take yourself out and say thank you to yourself. By appreciating your achievements, you encourage yourself to do more and better.

Beyond professional wins, treating yourself, perhaps after closing a significant deal, reinforces accomplishment and prepares the ground for upcoming challenges. From my perspective, celebrating success is a vital component of a salesperson’s journey.

I like to think of this space as a venn diagram. One one side I have time that is specifically blocked for work. On the other, I have time that is specifically blocked for personal. Much of the middle I allow to overlap and flow into each other. When you find a job that you enjoy, there is not a strong desire to clock out. I get more energy from having the flexibility to live my life with work and personal intertwined. I want to be clear that it doesn’t mean I never shut down from work and spend time with family. More-so, it allows me to have lunch with my family in the middle of the day or stay ahead of work when my kids are having an evening play date with friends. I have found that this strategy only works with certain roles.
