1 Set realistic expectations

Before you accept a new project, make sure you understand the scope, timeline, and deliverables. Communicate clearly with your clients about your availability, rates, and feedback process. Don't overcommit yourself or promise something you can't deliver. Be honest about your skills, experience, and capacity. If you need to decline or refer a project, do it politely and professionally.

In my life, I have actively participated in several projects and start-ups. This for benchmark companies in related fields and on my own as a freelancer. There are only two pieces of advice to give. All other things are ultimately to be defined by individual tastes, goals, and situations. If you want to stay in an 'optimal psycho-physical balance without giving up working efficiency, do this. 1: Do only what you are truly involved and passionate about; you are working on your own; you are taking risks on your own; and then no half measures, no compromises!!!! 2: Be disciplined and ALWAYS carve out time for yourself, and when I say ALWAYS, I ALWAYS mean ALWAYS time to devote to yourself. Do things that make you happy and give you pleasure.

Understanding your client and REQUIREMENTS is absolutely essential. If in doubt seek clarification and communicate. There can be resistors and you may experience folk who have habits of withholding information for their own reasons but share, share share! (Unless it is sensitive). Teams, squads etc cultivate their own lines of communication, it’s what helps them be high performing. Managers need to listen,observe and respect these links. You’ll see amazing things when you can allow the autonomy. Creative, ignited and explosively productive things can happen. You coordination load will decrease

2 Plan and prioritize

Once you have a clear picture of your current and upcoming projects, create a plan to organize and execute them. Use a project management tool, such as Trello, Asana, or Basecamp, to track your tasks, deadlines, and progress. Break down your projects into manageable chunks and assign them to specific days or hours. Prioritize your most important or urgent tasks and tackle them first. Review your plan regularly and adjust it as needed.

This "Plan and prioritize" has worked the most for me. When I say planning, I'm talking about even planning personal finances as well as your time for both project delivery and your personal time. If you are not clear about this, it is more difficult to know what you have to prioritize. Maybe in one month your priority is financial and based on that you plan your goals but the next month you want more ambitious times and based on that you plan your life as a freelancer.

3 Manage your time

Time is your most valuable resource as a freelancer, so use it wisely. Set a regular schedule that suits your work style and personal life. Avoid distractions and interruptions, such as social media, phone calls, or emails, when you are working on a project. Use a timer or an app, such as RescueTime, Toggl, or Clockify, to monitor and record your time spent on each project. Track your productivity and efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

4 Delegate or outsource

You don't have to do everything yourself as a freelancer. Sometimes, it might make sense to delegate or outsource some of your tasks to other professionals who can do them faster, better, or cheaper. For example, you might hire a virtual assistant to handle your administrative work, a graphic designer to create your visuals, or a proofreader to check your documents. This way, you can focus on your core competencies and add more value to your clients.

5 Set boundaries

Freelancing doesn't mean you have to be available 24/7 or accept every request from your clients. You need to set and maintain healthy boundaries to protect your work-life balance and prevent burnout. Define your working hours and communicate them to your clients. Respect your own time and expect the same from others. Learn to say no to unrealistic demands, scope creep, or low-paying projects. Don't be afraid to negotiate or walk away from a bad deal.

6 Take breaks

Finally, don't forget to take care of yourself as a freelancer. Working on multiple projects can be stressful and exhausting, so you need to recharge your energy and creativity. Take regular breaks throughout the day to stretch, relax, or have a snack. Schedule some downtime between projects to unwind, reflect, or learn something new. Treat yourself to a reward or a celebration when you complete a project or achieve a milestone. Remember why you chose freelancing and enjoy the benefits.
