Once you have all the discovered hosts in the network, collaborate with your Server team to verify hosts and categorise accordingly. 3. Plan network segmentations per layer 2 & layer 3. Taking into consideration the firewall policies for ingress/egress rules. 4. Use automation tools like Ansible or Python scripts to configure the all network devices that will touch the segments. 5. Implement by phasing with your server team and observe test.

Having the network segment allows you to debug any problems in any of the segmented areas, instead of searching the entire network, you can debug each segment, allows you to have more flow control, + security, reduce traffic congestion

If it requires 3 different tools, checking 5 observability systems to understand what is happening, how will that happen when you don't have DNS working? Network segmentation is excellent and valuable, but it needs to be designed and architected and as simple as possible and no more.

We also have some micro segmentation that makes segmentation possible when physical segmentation is difficult to be done. Example of strategy done using Cisco DNA and so on. A practical example I implemented is to create a proper DMZ by pointing virtual IP to be in another dedicated subnet
