How can MI team members effectively implement MI strategies?
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, client-centered approach to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. MI team members, such as counselors, coaches, or health professionals, can use MI strategies to help their clients overcome ambivalence, resolve discrepancies, and enhance self-efficacy. However, implementing MI effectively requires more than just learning the skills and techniques. It also involves adopting the MI spirit, following the MI principles, and integrating the MI processes. In this article, we will explore how MI team members can do that in their practice.
