It is important that the business helps to define data objects, definitions of use, and lineage so it aligns with their goals. Setting up a Data Council that includes the business helps with all of this. It can then be used to create a source of truth that all can use for analytics. This is also valuable for transactional data and financial analytics.

For Data Analytics, always think for end-user perspectives which are the business users and business decision makers. Translate the Metadata management into Business KPI management that allows the end-users to quickly find the business insights. I believe that there are certain thing missing is the DL as it exists nowadays. For example, planned changes. Seen nowhere, may be useful to say "hey, soon this column will be replaced by complete model, subscribe for more news".
