How can generative models improve disaster response?
Disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and wildfires can cause massive damage and disruption to human lives and infrastructure. Rapid and effective response is crucial to mitigate the impact and save lives. However, disaster response faces many challenges, such as limited resources, uncertain information, and dynamic situations. How can artificial intelligence (AI) help in this context? One promising approach is to use generative models, which are AI models that can create new data or content based on existing data or rules. In this article, we will explore how generative models can improve disaster response in four ways: data augmentation, scenario generation, damage assessment, and resource allocation.
