As the L&D Manager at SUCCESS Computer Consulting, we implemented several programs to leverage e-Learning to capture the amazing knowledge our teams have. First, I created a weekly "Microlearning Monday" program where folks could share tidbits and small bits of information in a SCORM Microlearning. (We set the expectation that these would be fast, authentic, and have warts and all because the design process didn't allow time for many edits.) We also implemented a monthly lunch & and learn where folks throughout the org could present a topic. We'd then take those contributions and digitize them into a recording with supplemental e-Learning content.

To really make autonomy and motivation shine, I'd make sure every course in your LMS is accessible to everyone. When you take those artificial guard rails off, employees can pursue whatever bit of knowledge they want, use that info for their career, and flex into other roles. For example, our office administrator spent weeks taking almost every sales and marketing course we had on our LMS, and eventually, she started working with the marketing team to flex and help, and now she's on the marketing team! This wouldn't have been possible if we walled off content just to be accessible to the teams that originally requested the content for their team.
