If manufacturing product A is not feasible due to higher direct costs, can the production capacity be used to make product B, which requires relatively lower costs to produce. The decision process usually have four stages: 1) Define objective, 2)Consider alternatives, 3) evaluation of alternatives and 4) selection of best course of action.

Using optimisation software, cutting patterns can be created to produce components for furniture manufacturing in different sizes utilising maximum board area so that disposed waste minimum thereby reducing costs without affecting quality.
