In my experience, I've found that a top-down enforcement of culture and values often fails to resonate across diverse offices. Instead, co-creating these principles with input from various levels and regions within the organization ensures buy-in and relevance. This approach allows for a blend of perspectives, fostering a culture that's both unified and adaptive to local nuances. By facilitating this collaborative definition, we are able to embed core values that are genuinely embraced and lived out in every office, not just imposed from the headquarters.

To establish and maintain a consistent culture and values in a consulting firm: -Define your culture and values, aligning them with your vision and strategy. Make them simple, memorable, and inspiring. -Communicate and reinforce these regularly through company meetings, newsletters, and internal communications. Encourage leaders to model these behaviors. -Integrate these values into all processes, from recruitment to project execution, making them part of daily work. -Provide training and development on these principles through workshops and leadership programs. -Leverage technology with platforms that promote and celebrate these values. Having worked at incredible consulting firms so far and an aspiring leader ,following is my observation : - Define values - most firms miss this in the long competition . Work etiquettes, smooth leadership that welcomes changes, a plan of action to grow by X numbers in future . - Futuristic thoughts - it’s very important to adapt and bring in changes as a firm . Upgrade is constant . - Your culture is your net worth - employee satisfaction defines how your company is treating people ! This indeed will draw in a lot of light to your firm ! - Leaders whose culture aligns with the firm ,for the firm and bring in talents who help in firm growth .

In larger businesses, I am not sure it is reasonable to expect the same culture across all offices. You will have sub-cultures created by virtue of there being different people, cultures etc. However, there can be a set of shared values and behaviours which all leaders should be demonstrating. Such as innovation, respect etc

Qual o seu legado, quais tipos de Impacto vocês querem deixar na sociedade e como isso impacta individualmente vida pessoa de seu time e, principalmente, como se espera que eles atuem e ajudem para isso. Além do óbvio, como comunicar de forma clara e recorrente, ter treinamentos e videos/manuais para isso, n?o há forma melhor e mais efetiva de se comunicar uma cultura do que vivendo realmente ela é sendo o exemplo. Se quer que seu time haja de determinada forma, comece por você fazendo aquilo e sendo um exemplo de atitude a ser seguida!

While I got laid off during COVID, I joined this incredible lesser known firm because I saw its bright future ! Before joining I saw its leadership . The first thing which attracted me was - “they saw potential, and did not go with the candidate who knew it all “ I came from a very different background back then and wanted to shift to client acquisition, they vetted me a lot but they also believed on “potential”. The values they installed in me , the culture they had . The incredible leaders who worked together with team members and recognised them for every work. The very planned organisation structure . Yes that’s going to make it a good firm . 3 years later I work with the giants of consulting but I’m still talking about that firm .

Culture is more obvious in crisis situations when instincts say one thing, but culture drives to the pre-defined route. Leaders has ultimate responsibility to live the culture values and communicate them.

It is no good "telling" leaders how they need to behave. Behavioural change is best created through coaching as each leader will have their own unique challenges. Role modelling is crucial. For instance, if you are touting the importance of "work-life balance" and then contact your teams at 10pm, there will be a disconnect between org values and leadership behaviour. This will impact engagement.

It is always great to see stories from different offices showcasting how culture and value is lived in various parts of the world. Like I stayed on my previous articles ! A futuristic approach! Transformation should be constant ! Let’s stay your firm started at 1990 , but it’s 2024 and you still use the same portals for any work . That’ll only lead limiting your growth! I’ve often seen companies who stick by their traditional approach only and are not open to ideas . - - -Diversity mix is so important in an organisation to make everyone feel included . Like when I visited out Hyderabad office I saw a washroom which mentioned (he, she and they ) . We forget that just hiring won’t help , there should be resources to do so ! Some of the incredible leaders I know come from very diverse backgrounds , it encourages people of minority communities that they do have a “voice”

As vezes focamos tanto no "O que", que s?o nossas metas, buscas por resultados, vendas, números, projetos, crescimento, gross margin, etc.... mas acabamos esquecendo do "Como", que é exatamente a forma que fazemos as coisas e como atingimos o que esperam de nós. De que nós adianta atingirmos.os resultados porém maltratando e destravando as pessoas ao nosso redor, impactando negativamente o ambiente ou agindo de forma ilícita? Temos que pensar cada vez mais no "Como" e na forma que fazemos as coisas para possamos perpetuar os servi?os e garantir a sustentabilidade do negócio. Esse "Como" pode ser traduzido como a cultura de seu negócio de forma geral. Pense nisso ;)

A "consistent" culture is a phrase that sounds unarguably desirable - and therein lies a trap. In any decent-sized company, there will be many subcultures - some determined by nationality, some by function (the technologists and the HR folk, for example.) Some features of culture will be determined by age, and some by demographic factors. So my warning/ guidance, before signing up to "consistency," is to consider diversity - sure we want some shared norms, values, and behaviors, but we also want to let people retain their individuality, and groups to retain the features of their culture that make them special (or are special to them.)
