This paragraph for me does not align with the concept strategy. As mentioned in my last contribution strategy is not only speed, cost, security, it has to also be sustainable through time and have intrinsic features needed for your long term expectations of the blockchain and your use case. And performance also will mutate through time depending the thriving state of the ecosystem, even gas fees will depend on the cost of the underlying L1 coin unless you work with an IBM or AWS blockchain with is no longer decentralized.

In my experience broadly speaking when benchmarking technologies you’ll want to blend in some other features and how they impact directly your choice. And while I see the need to compare bandwidth, cost and security, I’d benchmark them further like the ability (or lack of) to create smart contracts and their easiness to write, upgrade or modify (including even programming languages) the available tools for the blockchain ecosystems and its popularity among users. The mentioned perspective is to say that an article solely focused in performance metrics like there are in the database world with different processors it’s interesting but lacks the depth of how important is the concept of decentralization.
