One thing to remember when becoming a Field Service Engineer in IT is to start at the bottom and work your way through the different departments. I started my journey as a Data Cabling technician, understanding how the different departments contribute to the end result was important for me.

I recommend learning about networks, marketing, accounting, and organizational principles.
