Here's how you can use performance evaluations to enhance your career as a program manager.

In my experience, setting goals with managers is crucial for clarity and efficiency, avoiding wasted efforts. Regular follow-up meetings ensure progress and quality, fostering feedback and self-improvement. Self-evaluation enhances motivation and awareness. Continuous learning in your field prevents obsolescence. A career roadmap guides addressing needs and achieving future aspirations, closing milestones systematically.

One should take the feedback in positive way. Most of the time, I have seen people become defensive when someone provides the inputs of area of improvement. When we take the feedback in positive way, we can reflect back and take the corrective action otherwise we'll remain same. Remember what take us here, cannot take somewhere else.

Receiving a feedback and don't reflect on it can lead you repeating same mistakes. Ask yourself what should I have done differently? Which situations were in my control and which ones weren't? A good practice would be to reflect with your team - gathering the lessons learned in a safe space. Also, having a mentor to share your reflections would help too.
