Sometimes companies are providing internships but have no intention to convert them into paid opportunities. It's just not in the budget. However, in my personal experience being open to learning, doing the best you can and being inquisitive can put you in a great position if a job opportunity presents itself in the near future. If a company can see you did an internship with them it puts you ahead of the competition. Especially if you know what they value in their employees.

Networking through internship doesn’t have to be ‘one and done.’ In fact, attending company events when you’re able is a great way to stay connected and in the consideration set should future opportunities arise. When possible and convenient, attend public company events, webinars or industry conferences where your former colleagues might be present. Let them know you’re attending; arrange to meet onsite. This reinforces your interest while providing opportunities for in-person networking which is most impactful.

Show Enthusiasm and Commitment Stay actively engaged in your work and show enthusiasm for the company and its mission. Participate in meetings, contribute ideas, and stay informed about company news and industry trends. For instance, if there’s a company-wide initiative or event, volunteer to help out or participate.
