When it comes to building on what you know, This can be achieved through practicing with real life problems, Let’s take a look at prototyping for instance, You want to look at the existing way people manage this problem and turn them in product drawings and test. For an invoice feature, I can create a lo-fi design to tryout many layouts and functionalities, And then from feedback gathered I improve the designs gradually to make sure the final result meets user needs and the experience is enjoyable. Projects sometimes don’t always go as planned, So I retrace my steps, understand what went wrong and why, make informed changes from research and feedbacks. A clear case I remember was overlooking an intuitive interface for updating the stock level of an inventory management feature I was working on, it was time consuming and tiring for user, After gathering feedback from users … A simple one-click update fixed the entire headache So I understood that for every failure it is always a step towards improvement.

Every once in a while you have to help your brain reinvent you. You have to look at what you've done, take a step back, and notice that you've progressed way more than you expected. People hire consultants or recruit mentors to help them see this and built the confidence to ask for more $$$ or make that pivot, because in the day-to-day mess of design you lose track of your personal thread and where it's heading. Updating your portfolio is a great opportunity to do this reflection. Keep a journal as you work so that you don't forget, but also give it time to sink in. The things you spent the most time on may not the the most impactful or personally relevant bits you want to highlight in your portfolio.

There is a Yoruba adage that translates to “What works today may not work tomorrow is why the Ifa priest consults the oracle regularly”… It simply means stay updated. I can recall how many opportunities I have missed simply because I could not provide an up-to-date portfolio that shows my noteworthy work, this has been a result of time constraints from managing multiple projects and tight deadlines from work. Sometimes impostor syndrome too To show growth and adaptability, I have consistently tried to update my UX portfolio, It does not just attract more clients it also helps identify areas of improvement Remember Success is where opportunity meets a prepared man (Up to date UX portfolio)

Regardless of which position you're coming from when working on UX projects, aside from the technical stuff, 3 key things to remember are: 1. Take a step back, listen, and identify the problem 2. Watch things working in action before you make changes 3. Test and keep learning This applies to everyone, no matter how experienced YOU are, solutions you already know might not work on this particular project, so ensure you fully understand what you're trying to fix.

People often believe when it looks good it works well, so aesthetics majorly attracts and engages users the time it does not fulfill the purpose…user drop off and eventually conversion runs low I advise we strike a balance between aesthetics and functionality because even if the product works well and has poor aesthetics can also contribute to a poor user experience Do not separate UI from UX because a good UI contributes to a good UX which in turn contributes to a good business
