Before launching any course, I dive deep into understanding who my learners are. This involves researching their backgrounds, education levels, and what motivates them to learn. This initial step guides how I structure my content and approach, ensuring it resonates well with them.

It is very essential to understand their motive for wanting to learn the subject ie to get employed or to become an employer. Carefully teach the knowledge and marry it with the application including where applicable. At point of delivery, you have to understand the time and particular activities that are associated with the time line. Attempt to teach while the nation is playing football with another nation may not be suitable.

Absolutely do some research on the cultural background, especially different than your own. It will help you recontextualize your approach, especially in areas/cultures where giving feedback may require more framework in order to be received critically and not as an insult.

Research. Research. Research. Learn about your audience before they learn from you. Be culturally sensitive, include tailor made examples that speak to each of them. Spend time learning and remembering their names including the right pronunciation at the beginning of the workshop. Someone's name is their identity, people under estimate the importance of pronouncing and remembering names accurately. It immediately forces your audience to give you well-deserved attention.

Tied in with any research regarding your audience, using language and examples they're more familiar with will absolutely help the clarity of your own language. I'd also say where appropriate, practice on people who AREN'T well versed in your field. That way, they can point out where the confusing or unclear parts are.

Clarity is key in my communication. I aim to use simple, jargon-free language that is easily understandable regardless of the learner's first language. This approach helps to ensure that all learners, no matter their level of proficiency in the course's primary language, can follow along and benefit.

Keep language straightforward, avoiding slang and rarely used vocabulary. In written language, long paragraphs can be daunting and confusing. Opt for using bulleted lists to highlight important items, as well as for steps in assignments and assessments. In spoken language, consider monitoring your pace of speech, as well as the words you're using. Pacing and enunciation can help or hinder delivery of spoken information. Also, if recorded (video, presentation, or voice), consider offering captioning to help with clarity for those who need it.

Black font on a white background is considered to be the worst font and background combination for those with dyslexia. Consider a dark background with light font, or a dark color like navy, emerald, etc.

Consider captioning for any videos, recordings, or lectures. This is a helpful feature for anyone with hearing or processing concerns. The benefits include increasing understanding participation, and focus, as well as a reduction in learning-related stress. This results in fewer requests to repeat information (for live classes/workshops), or the student having to replay recordings multiple times.

Based on my opinion, Feedback Loops are great to understand how the audience feel about yoir teaching and how you can change it. It helps in tailoring adjustments and communicating the way the audience wants. Once you recieve the feedback through forums, sessions and Q&A, it's your time to analyse, tweak and turn it into your teaching style and deliver your knowledge with the new input the next time around.

Setting up effective feedback loops is crucial in my e-learning courses. I encourage learners to share their thoughts on the content’s clarity and relevance through regular surveys and interactive Q&A sessions. This feedback is invaluable for continuously improving the course materials and delivery methods.

I've found that building in some informal, formative assessments like check-ins can really help show what needs to be changed in your delivery, particularly when examining your participants' understanding of what you just delivered.

Adaptability is my mantra. As the course progresses, I remain flexible and ready to adjust the content or teaching methods based on learner feedback and performance. This adaptive approach ensures that the learning experience stays relevant and effective for everyone involved.

We all have different learning strengths, so having flexible options can help maximize the quality of learning. Components you can consider incorporating, in addition to written and spoken formats, may include music, video, interactive activities, and group work. These can help keep students engaged, as well as allow personal strengths to shine.

Breaks are your friend! Take small breaks throughout the day and not just lunch! It allows your participants to move around, expend some energy and reset their brains. Even engaging activities like fun quizzes, little games, etc. are a good way to change gears and give people breaks from "learner" mode.
