Backup strategies are the one of the key aspect in database administration, we never know when the sky falls down or when an event of failure happens, in that case we should be ready with the possible techniques which helps in retrieving the data as fast as possible. Some backup techniques include Full, Incremental, Weekly and Monthly backups. For PITR(Point-in-Time Recovery) these backups holds a crucial role.

Have a robust backup plan, with backup types of FULL, Differential/Incremental, Log backups and the backup frequency by by automating the backups using SQL Jobs on schedule. Recommended to Ola Hallengren scripts atleast for SQL Server databases. Better to avoid saving backups on the same machine as the databases. Best practice is save the backups off site.
