Most sales personnel try to sell the schemes and rebates and gifts instead of selling the product. When you shift your focus from the clouds of schemes, you will enable yourself to communicate your product's USPs. What's paradoxical is that most products have no genuine USP and this lead to the creation of a large pool of substandard product companies.

Having confidence and ability to explain the USP of one's product to pitch it to customised customers as per their needs is the first step to match demand with supply. Then comes the base and on top impacts that sales strategies are used for to grow further volumes. Identifying the real potential of market and suitably taking goals that would challenge one's base position and at the same time deliver on variable pay of the team helps to have a more centric approach to delivering and exceeding goals by the team.

The follow-through is key to build trust! I always think of the mantra "under promise and over deliver" -- the last thing you want to do is make a commitment you can't meet and break that trust. The other key thing is to listen. When your client wants to talk, be quiet and listen!

I tend to provide macro advice / industry appropriate information as part of my own presence along with client specific communications, of course. They say ABC (...closing), I believe ABE (....educating) is just as important.

To reach the goal by setting one over actual target and push up to the high level to be well serving the lost, at least try to make it over 80% achievement then we will see the right setting to match the goal.

My Director put a great system in place for weekly goal settings. Each Monday I share my 3 goals for the week with my team. They are small, attainable goals to be completed within that week, all driving towards my larger quarterly and annual goals. Then on Friday, we hold each other accountable on whether or not we hit our goals. Having this system in place provides additional purpose and structure for the week and ensures that these tasks will get done. Knowing I need to report back on Friday gives me that extra incentive to complete my goals. The last thing I want is to show up to that Friday meeting and have to say I didn't do what I said I'd do!
