Everyone struggles to understand GIS technology, and as GIS professionals, our goal should be to provide simple and effective solutions using GIS analytics. For example, we designed CLART, which simply shows the recharge potential of a selected site using green, yellow, red, and purple digital maps that can be accessed via an Android app. All we need is a little capacity-building. The user has no idea how the CLART developed, yet it fulfils its objective of soil and water conservation with four basic colours. This could validate our achievements as GIS professionals.

Spatial data visualisation is the result of data crunching and provides an interesting story about locations such as when, where, and how. A non-GIS person may be unfamiliar with timeseries analysis, but they can benefit from the insights provided by GIS experts using this technique. So, a GIS specialist may effectively communicate by offering spatial data visualisation in the form of maps, charts, etc.

Mentoring is a strong tool for building individual confidence and teamwork. Building trust and sharing knowledge develops a better understanding among team members.
