One thing I've found helpful is to do your homework on the company and the people you will be interviewing with. (Hint use LinkedIn) I then find a way to say "I've done my homework and had a few questions." Then I lead into questions about the company and also about the people in the interview (their prosperity in advancing with the company, where they are from if we have similar interests, or if there was something I found interesting about their background or hobbies. The more I am genuinely interested in them the faster rapport can be built and the conversation can flow.

One thing I always do at the end of an interview, precisely 3-4 minutes before the interview ends, is when the recruiter starts to relax because the end of the interview is near. I ask this question: 'So, off the top of your head, what do you think of my application?' You will get, just like in sales, a quick summary of the impression you’ve made. Moreover, 90% of the time, the recruiter will highlight only the positive points, which will be etched in his memory even if he has more interviews after yours. And if he mentions a negative point or express hesitation, it’s a unique opportunity to reassure him before you are out of the office - or the call ends.

Finally, don't forget to close your interview as you would a sales deal. Summarize the key points that make you the ideal candidate, reaffirm your interest in the position, and ask for the next steps in the process. This demonstrates your closing skills and shows that you're proactive and serious about the opportunity. It's a subtle nod to your sales expertise and a powerful way to leave a memorable impression. In a fast-paces environment or industry, start with the low lying fruits and protect your base targets as these are faster wins, and then expand by segmenting the customers you are targeting based on their adoption level to get as fast and as frequent wins you can get.
