I disagree with PPE being the first line of defense against any form of workplace hazard. In my opinion, it is the last line of defense when it comes to safety. For instance, so many people don’t know what PPE is. Issuing a PPE first to new recruits or workers without safety induction or toolbox talk is very wrong. Workers are supposed to know the essence of PPE in the task they are doing. And PPE doesn’t stop workplace injuries from happening, it only reduces the impact if there’s actually an injury. Issuing the right PPE and implementing its usage will help reduce workplace injuries. And also, PPE is dependent on the type of work one is doing.

Eu acredito que a manuten??o e treinamento s?o de utilidade imensa, visto que para todas as atividades devemos primeiro ser treinados. E todos os procedimentos e máquinas devem receber manuten??o periódica sempre, ent?o manuten??o e treinamentos caminham justos.

To add to this, workers should be encouraged to report any form of incidents no matter how small it may seem. Incidents like near-miss, trip, slip and small. Often times, this small but mighty incidents can lead to a very serious incidents. There should also be a reward system put in place for workers who report incidents, this will encourage them and others to do more.

I used to think safety was just about following the rules. But then I realized it's more like growing up - it keeps getting better! We constantly check things, fix what's wrong, then check again. Like that time I found a wobbly step at school. I told the teacher, they fixed it, and now everyone's safer. It's a loop, a circle of getting better all the time. At home, we even check our knives to make sure they're not dull. Every little thing we fix keeps everyone a little safer. So let's keep looking out for each other, fixing problems, and making safety even better, together!

At Takumi the EHS specialist would make a recommendation or request and everyone would comply including management. You can’t trump safety and it has to be first.

Encouraging all colleagues to speak up and report safety issues is vital. The safety team cannot be everywhere all the time. Without the feedback from other workers you have no idea if the safety measures that are in place are working, being followed or suitable. Feedback is as important as your colleague then see the value of their feedback.
