To sharpen your writing skills, read a lot of books-contemporary and classics and write daily. It is very important to set time aside without any distractions. AI is useful more as a search engine to research on topics. But not as a writing prop or prompt. One must avoid plagiarism (whether using technology or otherwise) at all costs.

In my experience, the more I stay abreast of different tools that can be helpful to my clients in the process of writing their books, the more valuable I will be to them. I do not require using AI to help me generate ideas for what to write about. I find, however, it can help me consider things I hadn't before and for reasons I might not have concluded on my own. I approach learning and using new tools from a standpoint of curiosity and wanting to learn. As such, I know my value in the marketplace will remain because others want to learn and I can teach them what I've learned.

The most useful way to sharpen your writing skills through new technology are theory&practice workshops, where in theory the educator(s) offer a classification of literature, historically (classical, modern, post-modern, contemporary) and through genre (literature, poetry, theatrical play, screenwriting, copywriting etc). Then, practice your writing through journaling - you can use Word for that, or any other writing software that it's free and its format suits you.

I've used voice typing for years and recommend it to my book-coaching clients who don't "feel" like writers. It can be as simple as recording a voice note on your phone and having a service like Oter.ai or CastMagic.io transcribe it for you. You can also directly voice type into Google Docs, especially if you are using the mobile device app. The beauty of voice typing is that it helps you create a first draft of anything quickly and you're not working with a black page!

Traditional writing course are more theoretical and outdated. Instead, look for courses created by industry experts. These industry experts share real-life examples, frameworks, and techniques to improve your writing skills. On top of that, these courses are practical as you are able to implement the learnings in your day to day processes.

By far, the best editing tool I've come across that helps you actually improve your writing is ProWritingAid.com. I do use Grammarly.com for quick edits, typos, and spelling check, but I use ProWritingAid for deep edits.

Editing tools are a great resource to evaluate our writing products. Grammar, punctuation and everything that implies our redaction process needs a review. By the use of technology this step that years ago took hours and hours to be completed now only takes a simple verification. As writers we must be aware that little mistakes have a negative outcome from the coherence and cohesion we want to establish in our text.
