I'm working on how we could assess user experience in the context of interacting with LLMs. I'm not referring to design, but rather the dialogue and interaction. Different metrics can show how human-like the generated responses are, but human-like is not enough to create a purposeful dialogue with effective interaction. We can ask users for feedback through likes and dislikes, but this method isn't objective. Therefore, I have been thinking about the future of user research in terms of assessing the flow of desired user goals in a dialogue.

Always keep an eye on the latest trends and mental models. This can be done through reading articles, watching videos and courses and using all types of apps, especially the new ones that are creating a buzz in the industry

If you’re a designer, thank your lucky stars — everything is UX. Physical products, websites & apps, AR/VR products all require human interaction. Even processes and learning do. Technology drives innovation — telling us what humanity can do & make. UX in essence tells us how something (and everything about it) should be made. Stay apprised of new technological developments, tools, processes and approaches. Humanity is working on these things perennially. UX designers MIGHT be needed to step in when something new is being conceptualised, they WILL be needed when after this stage something is being implemented. Both irony & hope in saying this — imagine the extent of brilliant UX needed for AI products to take jobs away :)

Learning is a way upwards in the field one is working in. There are no shortcuts to getting upwards in one’s career. It is a hard way. Constantly looking for opportunities to learn new skills, updating about trends, getting out of routine in conceptualising, online or offline is the correct ways to acquire knowledge. Any knowledge acquired is going your way pay you today or tomorrow.

What helps you the most to keep up with the trend is networking. Believe me, networking helps a lot to understand various aspects of UX. Build communities, talk to people who are actively working on new ideas, learn about their experiences and the challenges they faced. This is the best way to learn something new in UX daily.

In the world of UX, iteration is key. Designing is like baking cookies—you have to taste test (a lot) before you get the perfect batch. Your first design is just the beginning. You need to gather feedback, analyze what works and what doesn’t, and then tweak, tinker, and sometimes completely overhaul your designs. Think of it as sculpting: you start with a rough block and chisel away, refining and perfecting as you go. Embrace the process of continuous improvement. Each iteration brings you closer to a design that’s not only beautiful but also functional and user-friendly. Maybe it does solve a real problem and if it doesn't move on to the next idea. There is also a possibility such changes can lead you to create an all new product that didn't exist in the first place.

I experiment with new design tools, techniques, and methodologies to push the boundaries of my creativity. Not every risk will result in success, but each experience provides valuable lessons that contribute to my growth as a designer. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity and being open to feedback can lead to significant breakthroughs in my work. Cultivating a mindset that is willing to explore uncharted territories will distinguish me as an innovative and resilient designer.

As a UX designer, I believe that our job is not just get a data, do interviews and creating something to just finish the product or task is enough. We can and should be creative add the spice elements and innovations into it. To only follow the rules and trends, it will become like the others for example in one point of Dribble era, we can’t see the differences of apps anymore even those are totally different type of application. Be creative, open-mined, good design inspiration is not only on internet or design books. There’s everywhere around you.

Contrary to popular beliefs, innovation doesn't have to be something completely new. In fact, innovation could even be as an existing idea. The curve comes down to how it is implemented in relation to a problem. So I encourage you to network with peers, stat up to date with trends, and seek assistance when possible. You never know when a breakthrough for that problem would show up ??

In my opinion, every UX designer needs to do these 3 things to shape up your career. 1. Always focus on the users and collaborate every chance you can. That's what "UX" is all about 2. Apply Design Principals to every design project 3. Keep up with the current trends Remember that... without users, your design means nothing.

Strong foundation and first principles thinking are very important as not to just be swept with trends. Knowing why trends are, what behaviors to target with your information architecture, Basic user psychology on decision making will never go out of style. It is a very powerful foundation for: - understanding trends - knowing when to buck trends - design around data and behaviors instead of superficial metrics Always ask yourself how and why and go 4-6 levels deep in understanding design choices and options. Not only will it help you with your current work it will also strategically help in your future decisions and prospects.
