Las innovaciones en el mundo Fintech están revolucionando la economía global, y la ciencia económica debería seguirle el ritmo: comprender sus alcances y limitaciones, y sentar las bases para orientar la discusión de la política pública en pos del bienestar social. A nivel micro, las Fintechs están disminuyendo los costos en los medios de pago, ampliando las fuentes de financiamiento de las empresas e incrementando la oferta de canales de inversión de las familias (y por ende, mejorando el rendimiento del ahorro). A nivel macro, estos cambios tenderían a generar un incremento en la productividad. Pero también es relevante analizar quiénes se pueden subir a este tren de manera natural y cómo hacer que el resto pueda también hacerlo.

Economics works on a few core principles, some of the most critical ones being: * Information about markets being available to investors * Velocity of money in the economy Fintech has changed these factors immensely over the last decade. Be it the rise of investing apps that continues to increase participation in the equities markets (esp. in an economy like India) to a faster spread of financial information (which can be seen in SVB's bank run caused by mass panic) and even new forms of 'money' with crypto/new stores of value; Fintech has changed the economy quite a bit. The largest impact, however, would be seen in increasing the velocity of money in urban pockets of the world, compliance & increased financial information symmetry.
