On GitHub, we can showcase our skills by uploading multiple Python, R, or SQL projects this creates an impact on your resume or the employers. But here is the catch, GitHub is not a portfolio, a portfolio is always a website using which we redirect the users. Make sure, in your project, or your portfolio we use proper keywords and highlight them properly. Also, not just only technical details, highlight soft skill details as well with proper examples of solving problems and list out the tools and approaches which helped in achieving the final result.

Landing your first data analyst job often hinges on the connections you build. Very rarely do people land jobs solely by applying blindly. Strategic networking and building relationships play a crucial role. Tableau user groups offer a perfect platform for this. Available in most cities, across various industries, and with even more specific breakdowns, these groups connect you with like-minded individuals. They're also a great way to stay on top of trending topics in both Tableau and data analytics as a whole.

Nowadays, just applying is not enough to secure a job in a good company. We need to socialize with the people and engage in multiple forums and groups to increase our credibility which can be highlighted to a recruiter. Ways to increase the network - 1. Linkedin Connections with a personalized note. 2. Collaborate with people in their work. 3. Join forums and groups, and earn a badge on LinkedIn or community websites like Stack Overflow. 4. Keep yourself updated with the new trends in analytics by following news articles or company pages. All of the above will increase your chance to not only boost your profile but also get a strong referral for a job, and these activities will gain the interest of employers.

Networking is almost more important than the qualifications you have. The saying "your net worth is your network" is very true. I think using LinkedIn would be a great start to networking because it has over 310 million active monthly users. LinkedIn's algorithm is on your side when it comes to networking. If you are in the field of data analytics it will promote you in that relevant field instead of being promoted to various categories and hoping for your profile/post to go viral. It allows you to gain access through 1st, 2nd and 3rd connections. For example, once you have connected with the 2nd connection they are your 1st connection and now you can connect with their 2nd, transition from 3rd to 2nd connection; forming a stronger bond.

If you want to win any interview you need to learn how to prepare for any interview. Interview preparation can be done in many ways like - 1. Give multiple mock interviews. 2. Learn and practice explaining your projects and achievements. 3. Keep brushing up your knowledge of data analytics and always be updated about the new trends. 4. Be always positive and try to express the soft skills area you have. 5. Have examples for multiple data scenarios like, how you handled such situations where it was very difficult to manage the data or some other use cases which can show your strength for that job role.

This is the key in every interview I've made: Be prepared... to say what they want to hear. Sounds dumb, but here's why: Have you heard that Steve Jobs said: "People don't know what they want" Well, this is especially true when talking about recruiters, most of them don't understand a thing about the job (nor do they want to), and they interview hundreds if not thousands of people a month. You, as a data analyst, what would you do if you frequently had to manually interview, and select a huge amount candidates for different roles? You would probably create a system (automated, or a template) And..that's what they do! They create a system to filter out the worst candidates and give the best ones to the companies.

Another very important feature about LinkedIn is that it is free (unless you upgrade to the premium, lol)! In LinkedIn you can optimize your LinkedIn profile so that your come more in search appearances which increases the chances of you becoming found by a recruiter. Since I graduated I have worked for 2 different companies and I had the chance to work with them because employment agencies found me on LinkedIn that were working with these clients.
