I think just five years back I would have suggested to apply with a polished resume for internship. Well, now I highly doubt whether it will be a sure shot interview call even for a competitive candidate. Unfortunately we are living in a tough job market and getting internship calls itself is a big thing. This is why networking can be the only way to somewhat manage an internship in this economy. Asking for help and contacting potential leads itself is a talent and every applicant should try to hone this skill
