Here's how you can reduce marine pollution with innovative strategies.

In my experience, the industrial revolution in the United States, created significant problems in our oceans, rivers, and near shore areas. Changing products chemicals, and the restoration of sediments that affect the water column and ultimately the ecosystems surrounded our critical. I spent over 38 years restoring these ecosystems globally.

Una estrategia es el aislamiento de zonas específicas en playas o bosques marinos que tienen participación constante del turismo. Las personas han desarrollado en el ecosistema marino, comportamientos diferenciales de las especies marinas y por eso en grandes playas del mundo siguen existiendo accidentes lamentables donde las especies marinas salen de sus zonas comunes por la interacción de los humanos.

In the local coastal area, the Clean Vessel Act was passed in 1992 to reduce pollution from vessel sewage discharges. In 1996 the Hampton Roads Boater Education and Pump Out Internship Program was launched under the management of HRSD (our local wastewater authority). The Program is funded in part by the Wildlife & Sport Fish Restoration Grant provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services which is administered through the Virginia Department of Health Marina Program. Other contributing sponsors include the Cities of Virginia Beach ( 2007), Norfolk (2013), Hampton (2018), and Portsmouth (2018). HRSD marina Interns provide a free 25-gallon pump out of marine sanitation devices (MSDs) to the boating community of Hampton Roads for treatment.

Waste Management is crucial, and if we manage to segregate those waste, it will benefit a lot as many materials can be sold for scrap dealers, vegetable waste can be composted. When it comes to cruise ship, waste oil which is used for cooking, can be collected and used to produce bio fuel.

Baffles and filtering media in all effluent and discharge sources will minimize urban runoff contamination. Using people within the actual community where waste is being illegally dumped on the side streets to pick it up, just like we teach our toddlers and young kids to pick up their mess and toys! Education is key!

Maintaining a cleaner beach environment will help to reduce marine pollution. Beach users should be encouraged to dispose wastes properly and not litter the beach with wastes. Also, sea going vessels should be required to have waste digesters that will reduce their water disposable wastes to non toxic wastes and pollutants.

Also plastic materials along the coastline should be regulated and if possible reused and recycled. This way we can reduce marine pollution in a great deal. Industrial wastes as stated should be treated before discharge.

La energía renovable debería ser obligatoria en todo el mundo, es el momento que los grandes países emigren al uso de energía renovable. Eso ayudarías a mejorar la vida a largo plazo en el planeta. La idea que los barcos hagan uso de ellas sería muy importante. pero también debemos sumar a las ciudades cercanas. Queremos el momento donde todo el transporte sean eco sostenible ya sea por la energía solar, eólica entre otras.

First of all, most of pollution starts within the community.When the wastes are not handled correctly within the community, they end up in the marine environment one way or the other. By creating awareness in the community, you are like a person treating a disease from its root cause. When the community is well aware of the negative effects of wastes in the marine environment, am very sure that they will try as much as possible to avoid pollution. And this might be the key to a clean marine environment.
