Your roles and responsibility in warehouse structure decides your communication channel . A warehouse associate need peer communication between his fellow associates for day to day work accomplishments and he in turn use upward communication for reporting to supervisor Where as certain Managerial level leaders use downward communication to pass on orders

A clear & Simple KPI needs to be established first . Then the people in communication channel make reports for acheiving the objective . we can use the feedback to measure the performance of entire operations & take corrective action

We can have interaction time with our associate in fixed time on daily basis or once in two days . System such as Gemba walk makes sure that the associates are gathered at respective work station everyday to discuss about improvements

Effective warehouse operations has some key elements..Let me be specific and for the benefit of all, try to make it prescriptive( since unlike many areas..generally has many commonalities) 1. Effective Utilisation of space . Fast moving parts kept in eye level racks( racks to be overall 8 level high and fast moving not higher than level 5) 2. Regular model variants in a specified area...area upto the convenience of store keeper BOTH THE ABOVE are meant to facilitate speed of pick up and issue, as in today's scenario of model mix change coming at short notice( volatility of customer/ marketing changes unavoidable 3. Regular Perpetual inventory to factor Value and Frequency of use....PI schedule must be drawn at least for next 6months

Feedback to Warehouse operations is not different to any other sphere of business. Constructive feedback helps team member to grow, focus and contribute effectively. Warehouse is more of self directed function as such as a manager feedback has to be properly articulated. 1. Related to task - Say receiving and connected to it impact the inbound operations can have 2. Growth- How member action has positive or negative results and what are the do’s and Don’t that should be followed 3. Vision - Company goals As head of ops I convene a weekly meeting of key warehouse member after the corporate meeting I attend. Share all that has happened and next step for the team. Keeping them informed generate positive environment in warehouse.
