Here's how you can promptly address feedback on your video production work.

When clients provide feedback, be it constructive or not, it can sometimes feel like they're attacking "your baby" because you form this personal attachment to the work. So you have to learn to take that step back and thing logically about the project. I would always start by trying to come to an understanding of why they feel the change works better or is needed. If you have a strong view against the change, you must back it up with logic and reasoning...and still be 100% prepared to let it go the clients way. Small example, you want blue, the client wants red. You can explain and try justify the colour science behind why blue is better, but if the client hears you and still wants red...make it red.

We use review software that allows us to go through the notes and tick off what's been completed in order. So start with doing the simple things. Even if a client leaves a mountain of notes, when you calmly approach them one at a time, you'll end up seeing that often 80-90% are just simple small actionable items. Then you can spend the time to consider, try and communicate with the client on the final few. If you solve 90% of the clients feedback before returning to them for clarity on the tougher choices, then they'll know you're simply, actively trying to help and find solutions.

Always create a back up before making changes. r1, r2, v1, v2. Whatever your system of naming, create those backups so you can revert back to the original. The worst feedback you can get is a client asking you to go back to how it was on v1 when you're on v3 without saving version 1. It's a heartbreaking sinking feeling you want to avoid at all costs.

It's totally acceptable for a client to leave reviews because they have a difference of opinion, it's not acceptable on mistakes. That's what I drill into my edit team. Because mistakes are costly for our own time and the goodwill clients will have towards us. Clients shouldn't have to be on the look out for speling errars or dropped frames, they should be focused on the more important things. Plus if you constantly deliver zero mistakes, clients will often let smaller things slide. Ever watch a western and see powerlines in the background of a shot? Once that mistake is noticed you'll be eagle eyed and on the look out for everything else.
