Create a "champion" for individual but consistent tasks. For example, we're a custom anti-fatigue manufacturer and visit hundreds of facilities a year for safety inspections. While talking to one production supervisor in a manufacturing facility about how she keeps their mats in good shape, she says they dedicate a champion each month, among their large group of machine operators, to walk the production floor and document the state of the facility's anti-fatigue mats. Each month the task rotates to another team members. This stretch role gives employees the opportunity to listen, lead, make recommendations that elevate health/safety for their colleagues, and step outside their day-to-day jobs to learn something new.
