It starts by understanding what your "customer journey is about. I like to "customer journey" with a line with on one side your business and team and on the other side your customers. Amongst all the touchpoints you or your team have with customers, which ones are considered “pain points”? A pain points is touch point not going as it should as it is either impacting you, your customers or both. So when it comes to customer issues for instance, it is key to be both reactive and proactive around it. Your processes should be implemented in a way which makes you more effective as a company/team but also so you are reducing your customer issues while having an effective communication around those you can't control.

One approach is to use chatbots for initial interactions and common queries, but ensure there’s a seamless handoff to human agents for more complex issues. Improving both the quality and quantity of feedback you receive from customers is key to generate these valuable insights on what could be improved. But also the best way to be proactive in doing so. The first thing to do is to have at least 1 question encouraging negative answers. So you increase the likelihood of getting opportunities of improvement from your happy clients rather than complaining ones. Ranking questions (from 1 to 10) with a comment section below are also very good to get more accuracy. As if a client gives you a 7, it may go under the "good" category, but it is not a 8 neither. So clients may want to justify this (and if they don't, you can follow-up). This will improve the quality of feedback you get.

It's better to wait until the problem is completely addressed before requesting feedback If the customer has already declined to give feedback earlier in the interaction. Repeatedly asking can be perceived as pushy or annoying. The key is to use good judgment and prioritize the customer's needs and emotional state over collecting feedback.

Encourage collaboration across various departments to creatively address customer service challenges. Often, the best ideas come from outside the customer service department. For instance, the IT team might offer insights on how technology can streamline service delivery, while the marketing team might provide a fresh perspective on customer communication. In my experience, fostering a collaborative environment allows us to draw on diverse expertise, leading to innovative and effective customer service solutions. By working together, we can continuously improve our operations and deliver exceptional service to our customers.

I believe Collaborating widely in customer service means working together with various teams, departments, and stakeholders to provide a comprehensive and cohesive customer experience. It involves sharing knowledge, resources, and expertise across different areas, such as: - Cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, product, support) - Multiple communication channels (phone, email, chat, social media) - Different departments like - IT, finance, logistics..Etc - External partners and vendors This collaboration aims to: - Resolve customer issues efficiently - Provide a unified and consistent response - Share customer feedback and insights - Improve processes and workflows - Enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty .

I think there is something else to consider. In my experience, creative thinking is very helpful in proactively tackling customer service challenges, but only if it is supported by critical thinking. It is important to be able to analyze situations, evaluate information, and then offer effective solutions. And by critical thinking skills, I mean not only analytical skills, but also attention to detail and asking the right questions in order to gather correct information and evaluate it appropriately. Curiosity and open-mindedness are indispensable for making effective decisions and offering efficient solutions. In short, it is about using creative thinking to be practical and effective when addressing customer service challenges.
