Yes, new employees, like interns, sometimes get tasks to do by supervisors that they wouldn't ask their senior employees to do. Being a junior employee therefore can be dangerous if you do not understand the level of risk involved in an assignment, or do not know your right to refuse to engage in a risky activity. One clue for when to be cautious is when you are being sent off to do something by yourself that you have never done before. Like be asked to deliver something to a location known to be a high crime area to collect a debt or serve legal papers. You should always ask to be accompanied on such ventures as being alone in a hostile area or a hostile situation can turn dangerous in a hurry even in broad daylight.

Safety training is always developed by subject matter specialists (SME) after carrying out an extensive need analysis based on HSE policy, procedure and project requirements. It is a golden opportunity for all the employees to understand and acquire the knowledge to keep themselves safe while performing their routine task.
