With my experience, I will simply say that put your youngster at ease, if you had a smooth knowledge transfer when you were a youngster/ newbie make it more smoother for your new comer, and if you had rough start, make sure you dont do same things for your youngster. Make notes and make them as simple as possible. start with the assumption that the person has no clue and you have to start from scratch. Keep them in hard copy as well as soft copy for easy access. Use clear flowcharts or step by step procedure guides wherever feasible for ease of understanding.

Firstly, I would say that when sharing knowledge, most important thing is be approachable so that the youngsters can feel free to ask questions. Secondly, when doing any session, prepare well and use audio visual aids. Why i am saying so, because during my career i have seen senior professionals walking up without any preparation for such sessions and then making a below average presentation. You must understand that most basic doubts are the most difficult to explain. So prepare well and make an everlasting impression, because they aspire to be you, so be the best you can be.

Based upon my experience i would say that after doing everything, what you need to do is handholding towards empowering them. What i mean here, is that give them independent assignment and let them do it and interfere only when you feel that any further action may cause major disruption. Dont be the man handling everything all the time, delegate tasks, supervise so as to empower them for bigger roles later.
