Here's how you can overcome challenges in managing a team as an entrepreneur.

Trusting each other is the most important aspect of a great team , its best when you have a great team whom you like but even if that is possible when you scale you should have trust that you can collectively build something which each one of us individually cant

People are not stupid - they will only give you permission to lead them if they can trust you. As an entrepreneur, you have to sell the vision. You will initially sell the vision with your words, and then by your actions. Sounds easy right? But keep in mind that you need to have the endurance to make sure your words and actions remain congruent. Your team is always observing you, and evaluating if you deserve to lead them.

I found it helpful to always be available by phone and in person to everyone and I mean everyone. Building trust is what you do not what you say and this must be on 24-7.

Build Trust & Culture.. Schedule regular virtual team-building activities to foster camaraderie and a sense of belonging. Recognize achievements and encourage open communication to build trust.

In my experience company goal setting works the most effectively rather than personal individual goal setting. Once you have clear company goals for the year and by quarter you should have people and systems in place to work towards these goals, each person and team using their own goal setting methods not what the company sets for them individually. Hire great people and show them the goals they will surpass them.

Clear Goals & Expectations .. Define individual and team goals clearly. Outline roles, responsibilities, and deadlines. This ensures everyone is aligned and working towards the same objectives.

Yo tengo un enfoque diferente para establecer las metas, hago una combinación entre objetivos SMART, los OKRs y psicología conductual. En el equipo establecemos el objetivo principal de la empresa, luego definimos los pilares (son los conceptos más importantes que se deben cumplir y que son transversales en la organización) que van a guiar a todas las áreas en su labor diaria, posteriormente pasamos a los objetivos clave por área y luego a los objetivos por persona. Esta es una versión extremadamente resumida, pero básicamente es una idea que busca generar una corresponsabilidad entre la organización y las personas, impulsando que cada integrante del equipo sea partícipe de la definición y evaluación de sus metas.

En nuestra organización siempre estamos impulsando el aprendizaje permanente, desde capacitaciones impartidas por nosotros, algunas impartidas por miembros del equipo y cursos a los que mandamos a las personas que integran la organización. Ante el escenario tan cambiante que se vive en la actualidad, es fundamental estar en una mentalidad de aprendizaje permanente para poder aplicar lo aprendido ante cada cambio de circunstancias.

How does one foster growth? By being a lifelong learner themselves. Are you learning new skills? Are you teaching the applicability of those new skills to your team? Are you providing them with special projects that are a little bit out of their comfort zones?

Level up your team, level up your business! Helping your team members grow isn't just nice, it's smart. Offer workshops, courses, or even connect them with mentors to keep their skills sharp. Plus, give them opportunities to use those skills on challenging projects. When your team is constantly learning and growing, everyone wins! They're more motivated, satisfied, and ultimately, the whole team gets stronger.

I found it helpful to spend one and one time with team members to work together. This way I can understand their strengths and weaknesses and areas I can add value. It does seem to help build confidence when you lead by action more than by motivation.

To enhance team communication, lead by example. Practice mindfulness and strive for transparency with your team members. Address their questions proactively and provide context for your decisions. Effective communication is challenging, but fostering a culture of open dialogue can cultivate a healthy work environment.

I found it helpful to use Whats App groups so everyone is available to everyone and we all share what we do. Its rewarding when someone posts a need to solve a problem and one of our team members jump to their aid. We have a Wednesday general company wide Microsoft Teams meeting and other schedule meetings that are there to capture shared inputs and outputs.

Team disagreements happen, it's a fact of life! The key is to not let them turn into a warzone. Deal with them head-on, focus on fixing the problem, not who caused it, and listen to everyone's perspective. Remember, different viewpoints can spark awesome ideas! By working together to resolve conflict, you can actually make your team stronger and more creative. Now that's turning lemons into lemonade!

Celebrate Milestones and Successes: Recognize and celebrate achievements along the way. Positive reinforcement boosts morale and reinforces the team’s commitment to achieving future goals.
