To negotiate a raise or promotion, you need to first acknowledge how strong your expertise is and how much value you bring. Knowing your worth and valuing it helps you to find the best arguments to support your request and showing what more you can achieve.

Negotiating your salary or fee as a life coach involves multiple steps to ensure you get what you ask while meeting your client's expectations. 1. Before you ask for a raise, do market research on industry standards and find out the going rate for your services, average rates for life coaches in your area, with your level of experience. 2. If you think that you deserve more than the industry standard, then you need to work on your value proposition and clearly articulate your unique skills, certifications, and experience that set you apart from other coaches.

Negotiate after achieving personal milestones such as completing certifications, acquiring new skills, or successfully leading a major initiative, demonstrating your continuous growth and value to the organization.

Your approach to negotiation has to be collaborative, where you can clearly express and articulate the value you bring to the table. Continually emphasize the benefits and outcomes clients can expect from your coaching.
