Here's how you can navigate a situation when you're unsure of the answer to an interview question.

I always take the honest road. I'd admit whether I have little to no knowledge about a particular topic. I then back this up by saying that whatever I lack in skill and knowledge, I more than make-up for in eagerness and willingness to learn. I tell them that I'm a quick study and always execute my tasks with diligence. This makes the interviewer view me as a person who will exhaust all possible avenues to learn and will be resourceful in all situations including when the skill and knowledge are not readily available. Being perceived as someone who is willing to learn and accept directions is much better than being seen as a know-it-all who listens to no one and won't take directions.

At times honesty helps. One could take time to think about the question or request the interviewer to allow you to respond to the question at the end of the interview.

The very moment I got interviewed, I usually sit quietly listen to whatever they are saying, work out the questions on how I am going to get the asked question answered, as in questioning myself have I ever come across the question asked, if not then I give straight answers like no or yes. tbh I Switched-off at times but then I sit back relax and say to myself if I am capable enough to do this task and just that the questions asked are not the way I expected its never too late to start all over again.

Honesty shows integrity and it sticks out ten miles. You may assume not knowing the right answer shows inadequacy but instead of blabbing, tell them how you are willing to learn about it and how fast you can learn. I would likely hire a honest and confident person who has a desire to learn. Some employers look for vulnerability willingness to grow in their applicants as against show off of professionalism and certificates.

Be honest with yourself and be honest with others! Honesty is a sign of respect, integrity and self-awareness. This is the basis of trust. You don't have to know everything. For instance, If there is a required skill and you haven't learned it yet, it's better to say you don't have it, but you can learn quickly. It is also a sign of your will.

Una vez en una entrevista perdí una buena oportunidad laboral porque me dio pena preguntar, esto fue tomado por el reclutador como desinterés en la oferta laboral y falta de preparación. Si tal vez en ese momento hubiese preguntado esto hubiera generado la sensación de interés y entablar una buena conversación con el reclutador para que la entrevista no hubiese sido tan plana y así darme a conocer mejor. In this situation, I would try to rephrase the question or ask the interviewer if they could rephrase the question and I would relay an past job experience that relates to this position.

Ask them to clarify (politely). “Did you mean….this way or this way”. Or to expound a bit. Then give yourself a moment and respond. If you don’t have direct experience, you can start with “I’ve never dealt with that specific situation, but here’s something similar….” Then tell your brief response.

That is an excellent question to ask! It shows the interviewer how pro-active and creative your thinking and ability to act quickly with problems.

Staying positive doesn’t have to be cheering and clapping and high energy. Staying positive can be helping out where needed, offering support or guidance, being organized and effective for the group! When you’re in an interview, stay positive. You don’t want to leave a poor impression complaining about a previous employer. Stay on track, leave out the negative. Example: it was a short term contract, i made some great contacts, I learned some new things from the group. (Instead of-they wouldn’t renew my contract, i wasn’t there long)

In an interview, always show what you can add positively and add value to a team and the growth of a company. Show that you can be a proactive person and that you are willing to evolve and learn new knowledge, participating in global development. Mention previous positive experiences and the learning you learned from those experiences. Show that you are willing to get involved in common development.
