Staying positive is the most important thing. You could easily lose confidence and breakdown if you don't stay positive. A job is not your life. So relax, take a deep breath and prepare for the better. One approach would be to not look back, plan the next steps - whether you want to take a break, upskill, start something of your own or get another job. Once you decide this, you only need to focus on the target. Writing the plan down could help in detailing the steps and approach your goal better. Stay active and stay focused!

In my recent experience, I have noticed and admired by the people who are stronger and wiser than i know them when the time was not difficult. Its easy to pretend something we are not, but when we get the strength and strategy during the time like layoff, i believe that someone is waiting with a far better opportunity. The change that is happening now is not bad, because nature is trying to covert this change as something nicer, better and well-deserved for us.

Every job I've gotten in the last 15 years is via someone I already know. But, I don't just say "Hey I'm looking..." Instead, I research what their company is doing very specifically and contact them to explain which of their work areas interests me. If I am not sure how their organization fits me, I describe the role I seek, and ask if they have any related need. Then, I give a brief synopsis of exactly what I can offer and deliver for their specific projects, as focused on their business use case as possible. I am not looking for a new job so much as the next area where I can contribute, excel, and thrive. I want my contact to understand where I can be of immediate and obvious value, and recognize the opportunity I present.

One source of easy in-person meetings are tech meetups, they are usually free, provide some snacks and are mainly sponsored for the sole propose of helping recruiting out indirectly. If you haven't attended one you should, it doesn't really matter if it's directly the tech you are using or something else you have more or less interest in. The people you would meet there are other techi's you would find a lot in common with easily. They would happily talk to you about positions, companies, interviews and more. The sponsoring companies commonly have higher interest in candidates but if you ask around you'd fine people just attending from other companies can give you a lot of information about other companies as well. Just raise the topic.
