Working in the field of Child Support, one thing I encounter more often than I think anyone would like to, is the legalities that may not necessarily play in the favor of a client (or "custodial parent".) Sometimes, because in family court we attempt to keep things equitable between parties, while also taking into account disparities between income, parenting time, benefits received, ability to work, etc. However, things can sometimes resolve in ways that a party may take issue with. When this happens, it's imperative to employ conflict deescalation strategies and make sure you explain in layman's terms the reason why something happened. Most humans get upset when they don't understand something. Sometimes understanding is all we need.
