Here's how you can navigate conflicts during parent-teacher conferences as an educator.

Be sure to identify the zone of proximal development that you can ask parents to help you achieve with their child. It makes good sense to let parents know where you want to go with their child and how they can support!

One thing I have found helpful is to have a summary of each child report documented to be shared with parents. This really sets me up professionally.

This point is really note taking. Parents come to the conference to hear news of their child's performance hence teachers must start with the positive achievements of the child. This really sparks some interest in the parents and opens them up for negative attitudes and performances of the learners to be discussed fairly.

"Listen to understand, not only to reply" listen calmly and carefully to parents and student also to understand their concerns and queries. Good communication can be done by listening and replying patiently. If teacher listen then parents will also listen and understand teacher.

Listen to hear and learn - not to respond. Parents have amazing insights and stories to share when you least expect them. Give them the opportunity to participate. There is a reason they showed up.

One other thing that really helps note taking. Teachers can listen and suggest reasons to aid performance but note taking shows seriousness and a step to implement decisions taken.

Keep comments concise, precise, actionable and rooted in “we” and “partnership.” Don’t be afraid to ask for support / advice.

If the conversation becomes emotional or tense, remain calm and composed.... 2.Speak in a neutral tone and avoid becoming defensive or argumentative... 3. We should ask the parents for their input and suggestions. This kind of approach shows respect and reinforces that both parties share the same goal (the student's well-being and academic success)....

Es ist mir an dieser Stelle wichtig zu betonen, dass Eltern h?ufig verwirrt sind, insbesondere wenn sofort Diagnosen in den Raum gestellt werden. Oftmals schlagen Lehrer vor, dass das Kind eine Untersuchung braucht, oder die Eltern selbst kommen auf diese Idee. Dies ist jedoch nicht immer der beste Ansatz. Stattdessen sollten wir direkt mit dem Kind sprechen und gemeinsam Vereinbarungen für individuelle Ma?nahmen treffen. Dieser Ansatz hat sich als besonders effektiv erwiesen. Gemeinsam kann man so eine unterstützende Umgebung schaffen, in der Schüler ihr volles Potenzial entfalten k?nnen.

One thing I have found helpful during communication is to use actionable words like I have given and done A, B and C and this is the results. So I believe this and that will help your ward to get better.

Ich finde es besonders wichtig, sich zuerst in die Situation der Eltern zu versetzen. Geht es nur um den aktuellen schulischen Erfolg, oder vielmehr um eine erfolgreiche Zukunft? Dieser Unterschied ist entscheidend. Es geht darum, nicht nur die Leistung als Momentaufnahme zu sehen, sondern gemeinsam die St?rken herauszuarbeiten. Es geht nicht darum, was jemand nicht kann, sondern was er n o c h nicht kann. Eltern k?nnen oft schnell Beispiele für die St?rken ihres Kindes aus dem Alltag nennen, und es ist wichtig, diese in das Gespr?ch einzubeziehen. Indem man die schulische Leistung zun?chst au?en vor l?sst, schafft man Vertrauen zwischen Lehrkraft und Eltern.

For me I engage parents by listing my implemented attempts to solve the child's problem and my findings and ask parents their inputs. This always produces good results. Teachers must always note that the parents know their wards better.
