Don’t assume (we all do it) others know what we know (i.e. curse of expertise bias). What is the worst that could happen - they might already know it – great! But would it hurt for them to read it anyway? No. Better for them to read it than to assume. Just connect the dots for them!

In my experience, researching the company and industry is definitely a good idea. However, be careful. Sometimes it can be counterproductive if taken to the extreme. There is a risk of falling into the trap of overpreparation, which could make you appear too rigid or as if you are reciting information rather than engaging in authentic conversation during the interview.

Don’t think that you have to be able to recommend solutions to all their problems at the interview (it would be surprising if you were). Maybe the company is trying to expand to new geographical regions or launch new products, and you have been through that. If not, then show that you understand what that entails and how you can drive success, and be prepared to discuss it.

Hiring companies know their stuff. Gaps in knowledge manifest themselves pretty easily during recruitment. No point in trying to hide them. Of course, do not criticise yourself either.
