Technical training is very important and a good use of your time. But don't forget that you're always learning, even when you don't realise it, so don't feel daunted by the need to stay current. It's not always technical skill acquisition either. You are acquiring skills in communication, strategy and endurance when you adopt a personal culture of continual improvement. They say "every day is a school day" which is so true if you are open to learning and development, of yourself and others. This mind set lets you see things that you can use to improve results and outcomes, even when they might not be the outcomes you thought they'd be.

This is exactly right, especially in the age of AI/generative AI and their impact on IT infrastructure and operations. There will be new, and high-value roles for those who upskill in AI disciplines.

I learned this lesson early during my career…it’s not always what you know but who you know. Cultivating a robust professional network within the IT community is crucial for career growth and success. Networking allows IT professionals to stay informed about industry trends, job opportunities, and emerging technologies. I can't say no more about Agility, but after a course learning then applying agility on my daily IT operation everything seems achievable. I could run multiple projects concurrent and deliver on them all with less stress

No soy un gran fan de Paolo Coelho, pero una de sus frases me gusta mucho: “Si piensas que la aventura es peligrosa, prueba la rutina. Es mortal.” Con esto quiero destacar que cambiar refuerza tu personalidad. Te obliga a superar algunos miedos. Cuando haces una cosa, te das cuenta que se podía hacer, y que tus miedos al respecto eran infundados.

The old adage of "a problem shared is a problem halved" is so true. We are part of intricate and complex systems, where knowing how to support and motivate others, to seek help at the right time and problem solve in teams is critical to success. Don't be afraid to say I'm not sure what to do next. Sometimes the answer is right there, but you've spent so much time trying to find it you can't see it. A fresh pair of eyes can save you time, energy and frustration. Also be prepared to be that person, willing to give someone that time and support - it will pay dividends!

I agree with this in a big way as my skills that I have learnt help me get to the top in many situations. Learning sales, body language, coaching are some of the skills that I constantly keep learning. Using those skills has also helped me with making relationships in high pressure situations. Only recently I had a provider say that they would prefer to work with me, it helped that I was putting pressure on them but with out the others who were using force of termination. It helps to be honest and keep all communication the same that you would like to be treated or spoken to. I contacted a company that I had left 3 years previously, I managed to get to the engineer on the case. he remembered me and pulled out all stops. It was fixed.

Breathe. Sometimes we get antsy and upset by the latest change brought about by management and the urge to flare up about it rises in our throats. It would be wise to hold back in responding immediately and let our emotions and thoughts stew for a while. This thought-processing mode gives us the opportunity to consider carefully the reasons for the change before deciding whether it is a step in the right direction or not. Only then should we give our opinion regarding the change.

No hace falta que se diga, que el "estres" puede tener su parte "positiva! , pero todo en su justa medida. A todos nos da "miedo" no poder dar lo que se espera de nosotros. De hecho, muchas veces nos asusta cambiar por eso, porque pensamos que el cambio puede ser demasiado grande y que no sepamos asimilarlo. Hacer desconexiones laborales en trabajos tan exigentes como es el mundo IT es fundamental para una carrera larga y prestigiosa. Que no te de miedo decir que necesitas ayuda o tiempo para hacer las cosas si te ves abrumado. Date tiempo y, sobre todo, ten paciencia contigo mismo. Tu eres tu máximo enemigo

En mi caso personal, comencé como operador de centralita en el proyecto ,se me planteo ayudar en Service Management , después echar una mano al help desk, reporting, pasamos al nivel 2 y en un par de a?os me coloqué como Jefe de Sala en uno de los proyectos más interesantes, y exigentes, en los que he estado, el de IAG para la OpCo de Iberia. Y es una de las cosas que cuento a los compa?eros nuevos que entran en la familia de TCS, que si tienes ganas y aprovechas las oportunidades, puedes desarrollarte de manera profesional y personal. No hace falta que el cambio sea grande. De hecho, muchas veces nos asusta cambiar por eso, porque pensamos que el cambio puede ser demasiado grande y que no sepamos asimilarlo.
