In each internship, it's important to take initiative on as many tasks as possible. Communications teams do many different jobs and you want to get as much experience across types of communications work as possible (PR, internal communications, content creation, and more). In smaller companies, this is easier to do, but in bigger companies you may have to be observant to get to know each employee in communications and guess which of their tasks they view as "busywork" and may wish to delegate. This will not only give you experience and an idea of what skills you'd like to develop but also build your professional reputation as a leader who takes initiative and an extremely helpful and flexible employee anyone would want on their team.
