it's truly hard to create practice environments, even when now a days its easy to have biggest hardware resources, and with so many virtualization technologies, to create a practice environment, its one of the biggest challenges to bate, but it's the best way to improve skills, have an development environment where we can deploy and test our services and infrastructure designs.

My thoughts about been a systems administrator, is like the medicine, every day something occurs that makes us to be updated and aware of everything that can affect directly or indirectly to us. So we can not stop to be learning and keep out skills sharp.

Its important to have a disaster recovery plan for your production environment and any other environment that can't stand a downtime. And it's important to perform test run of the disaster recovery plan. When it comes to planning disaster recovery it's important to document steps for every aspect in a central location with access to the entire team. Most common reason for a failure of a disaster recovery plan is not running test runs or not knowing the clear plan. If you are already in a production downtime its important to communicate effectively, identify and delegate well by clearly defining the tasks and scope. A leader is tested in the event of failure and a good leader is someone who is graceful and kind during testing times.
