It's important to consider how this varies printer to printer. Some printers, such as the very popular Creality Ender 3, is very cost effective, but not as reliable and requires more maintenance. I am a leader of a college robotics team and we have several Ender 3s and they break down regularly, necessitating repairs and/replacement parts. This slows down progress. On the other hand, there are now very user-friendly printers available like the Bambu Lab X1C. This printer, while expensive, requires less maintenance and is extremely reliable. Our team also has one of these printers and the reliability is very nice to have, but whether or not the price point is worth it depends on the level of production and the team responsible.

Designing for 3d printing is a whole new world and can enhance every aspect of a 3d printed product and keep risks low!

It is why when printing big batches during long time spans it is important to verify the quality and accuracy of the product. 2 identical products printed 6 months appart can yield noticeable differences.
