Providing feedback to your boss can feel heavy, but it becomes easier with trust and a personal understanding of who they are. Building trust involves feeling connected & understanding whats important to your boss outside of the office. Secondly, learn how your boss prefers feedback by simply asking, "How do you like to receive feedback?" This ensures they feel heard and it allows you to provide feedback in a manner in which they told you it would be received well. Always aim to improve the situation or team dynamics rather than to make yourself feel better. Lastly, maintain a balanced ratio of positive to constructive feedback to avoid solely focusing on shortcomings. Rarely does anyone like being evaluated only by their exceptions.
