An example how I have managed these unexpected delays. 1. Used to Categorise the job order and indicate as critical / non critical despatch units whenever chances arises or delays suspected on that job. 2. These critical Despatch items should be given top priority by all the workcentre. 3. Used to add buffers while scheduling on the job orders as a preventive measures. 4. Used to develop alternative plans / contingency planning to mitigate the delays. 5. Try to complete on additional shifts / overtimes. 6. Keep monitoring on the time line and update the critical indicator on the system. Meaning If the job order reaches within the timeline , critical indicator need to be removed. Allowing space to accommodate another job.

One thing I have found to be helpful is to not overly magnify any stressful situation. Take 5 minutes clear your head. Don’t allow the fear to control your decision making. Analyze, do your homework and make an informed decision. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Just be certain you learn from your successes and mistakes and keep moving forward.

Increasing the organization’s capabilities to manage distributions at the closest level to the operation is a key strategy. A broader capability in an organization can result in quicker response by those closest to the issues. Teaching those in the operation how to recognize and responded to issues in a timely manner will allow others to continue on with their prioritized work.
