As a remote or hybrid worker you already know your objectives--and assuming you were hired for your skillset, you do not need added training. I agree! But the goals need to be things I can actually control remotely. Improving in-room dining satisfaction, for example, is hard if I'm not the one delivering the food. Focusing on process improvements I can own is key.

Routine has to be flexible. A guest crisis doesn't care if it's outside my "work hours." I need blocks of focus time, but also the understanding that, like on-site work, there will be interruptions.

To maintain your team motivated while they are working remotely, communication is key. Nowadays, many chains are making their reservation departments work remotely. Reservation agents thrive with clear goals, while reservation managers monitor KPIs closely from the office, providing support and feedback. In my experience, implementing daily virtual meetings kept teams aligned and motivated, fostering collaboration and accountability despite remote work setups. Additionally, organizing virtual team-building activities helped boost morale and strengthen team bonds, despite theusual remote work settings, enhancing overall productivity and job satisfaction. Don't forget, hospitality is all about people!
